TESTIMONY: (In his own words)

When I was growing up my parents belonged to a church and I grew up fellowshipping with them in that same church.

I followed my parents in that church all the time, but in reality, I did not know nor understand why I was going there. My parents were not saved and the church was not sharing and teaching the true word of God from the Bible.

As I grew up, I wanted to know about the faith, and understand about the things which were being spoken about in the church. I started to ask my father several questions about the faith; such as, what is sin, what is the origin of sin, what are the consequences of sin, and many others but my father could not answer them despite having been in the church for a long time. Back then, my father was a church pastor. I decided to read the word of God myself so that I can get the answers for my questions, but I could not understand much.

In the year 2001, I met a pastor named Damien Gahinyuza who managed to explain to me the questions I had about the Christian faith. He made clear to me that salvation does not come through works, but faith in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was during this encounter that I was able to understand that I was a sinner and that I was condemned. I resolved in my heart to change and made a decision to accept Jesus Christ in my heart, and to make him Lord over my life. Afterwards, I was baptized by immersion in 2002, knowing fully that I was baptized because I was born again.

It was not easy though for me to find the church I wanted to belong to. I wanted a church that could teach me the Bible and help me understand more about my faith. But the church I was in was neither teaching nor preaching truth from the Bible. I wanted a different church, and I continued to look for it for a long time, but I could not find it.

In 2010, a new church opened just in front of my parents’ home. I took it to myself to find out what that church was offering, and how different it might turn out. I was thrilled to find out that it was a good church, the kind of church I wanted, which teaches and preaches the word of God the right way. I was also so much impressed with their style of sharing Jesus with the lost, and following up with new converts, by engaging a person individually in a more comprehensive way. I joined this church which is named Bibleway Baptist Church in 2013, and I have been fully involved in its activities as a member ever since I joined.

In 2014, I responded and surrender my life to Christ service. I have ever since been serving at my local church in the village of Muyumbu. I got married to Yvonne, and together we have completed four years in marriage at the end of this year. We have one child and we are expecting our second child.
